New Year's Eve - LA

I'm sorry this entry is going to be a little less than spectacular.

We descended upon this city just before Halloween, and ready to celebrate. And celebrate we did. Ryan had done some pre-arrival research and learned some studios really went all out. We went the the Universal Studios' event - it was scary, creepy, very real looking and was worth every cent spent to take part in the festivities. For more info on that crazy night see my Halloween entry (10/31/2012).

Ringing in the New Year on our couch
So perhaps Christmas preparations pooped us out, and then the New Year came out of nowhere. (Really, that's exactly how it happened now that I think about it). Despite our not doing anything, but watching the New Year's Eve program on television, there are plenty of things to do in Los Angeles. These are events that I would have drooled over back in Maine. These are events that are unheard of where I'm from.

The city of Portland, Maine used to throw a big New Year's Eve bash. It was cold as all get out, but equally fun. Many of the local businesses remained open and they set up a stage in Monument Square. They'd have big puppets out, and would count down the New Year. The last year I remember this being held was in 1999 into the year 2000. Then the event just kinda disappeared.

It's nice to know New Year's Eve bashes are alive and well in LA. Some of these events can be expensive. There are quite a few block parties, and there are events that require tuxedos and pretty dresses. Ryan and I weren't prepared for any of this, but I promise next year we'll make up for it. I really can't wait, because I love a good party and I love New Year's Eve.

So Ryan and I rang the New Year in quietly in the comfort of our living room. We watched the ball drop and then called it a night.

Here are pics from our crazy night :) And here are my resolutions...
